Recently, during the 3-day ALBA BERLIN Basketball & Recycling Camp at the German Swiss International School in Hong Kong, in collaboration with ALBA IWS and New Life Plastics, ALBA BERLIN basketball coaches and recycling experts introduced a group of high school students to exciting industry insights. Learning while playing has never looked this fun!
After a two-year break, the ALBA BERLIN basketball tournament took place again at the Eurocampus of the German School Shanghai Hongqiao. Seven PASCH* schools and more than 100 students from Shanghai participated in the fun event, giving German and Chinese learners the chance to exchange on and off the basketball court. In two different age groups (under 16 & under 19) and a boys and girls division, students competed a full day while practicing their language skills. Whether the players called for a pass in German, English or Chinese, they all had one goal in common: to score points and win the tournament title.

ALBA BERLIN coaches had the chance to host a basketball and German as a foreign language workshop as part of an open house information day at Yuen Yuen Institute MFBM Nei Ming Chan Lui Chung Tak Memorial College. Around 50 primary school graduates joined this fun event and left with newly learned German vocabulary and an upgraded basketball skill set. The combination of basketball skill and language acquisition has been a main pillar in ALBA BERLIN’s China program, leading to many successful projects over the years.
We believe that basketball is a unique platform with great potential to educate the public on the importance of topics such as recycling, environmental protection, and intercultural exchange. Through basketball and recycling initiatives, ALBA aims to continuously connect its two areas of expertise in a meaningful way.
