ALBA has been awarded a new 36-month contract for the Provision of Services for the Reverse Vending Machine Interim Recycling Scheme in Hong Kong. This follows the successful completion of the Reverse Vending Machine Pilot Scheme Stage 3, which ALBA began operating 2 years ago.
At the start of the pilot scheme, ALBA built a complete service system tailored for Hong Kong. The team set up customer service support, created maintenance and operations teams, launched a real time RVM website and formed an ambassador team to engage the public. A total of 120 Reverse Vending Machines were installed across the city.
During the 19-month operation period, the scheme collected more than 100 million plastic beverage bottles. The results show the impact of accessible recycling services and reflect ALBA’s commitment to contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable Hong Kong.
The new contract enables ALBA to continue expanding the reach of RVM services and to strengthen community participation in recycling activities across the city. The ALBA Circular Economy Solutions team will lead the upcoming work and continue delivering reliable and user friendly recycling services for the public.
